Lighthouse Jiu Jitsu is a veteran-owned, family-run academy in Prattville, Alabama, opened in 2025 by Kyle Atkinson, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and Air Force veteran of 20 years with a BS in Sports and Health Sciences. It runs young kids classes Monday-Thursday 4:15-5:00pm, a Bigs class for ages 8-15 at 5:00-6:00pm, adult classes with early morning and evening options Monday-Saturday, a beginner-friendly striking class, and a homeschool jiu-jitsu semester on Tuesday afternoons that is eligible for physical education credit. The name comes from a family maiden name: a lighthouse marks threats and allows safe passage.
