About Legacy Grappling Academy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Legacy Grappling Academy opened in Tucson in 2022 to teach modern Brazilian jiu-jitsu, mixing time-tested fundamentals with contemporary strategy and competition training in a room where hobbyists train alongside experts. Owner and head instructor Santos Rene Rivera is a Tucson native and former Arizona state champion wrestler with kickboxing and MMA fights behind him, a two-time IBJJF No-Gi World Champion (purple and brown belt), two-time IBJJF Pan bronze medallist at black belt and Abu Dhabi World Pro bronze medallist. He is joined by black belt Phil Olsen, promoted in 2018, who competes at IBJJF and ADCC. Mats are open Monday to Friday 6-8pm and Saturday 11am-1pm, with private training on Sundays, and visitors can take a free trial class or drop in.
