About Bakersfield Elite Martial Arts
Bakersfield Elite Martial Arts teaches "No Rules Self-Defense" — a single blended curriculum built on Krav Maga, with Brazilian jiu-jitsu for groundwork, MMA and boxing training methods and elements of traditional martial arts — plus separate Tai Chi classes for health and balance. Classes are split into adults, women-only, and kids at ages 4-6, 7-10 and 11-14, and the self-defense syllabus covers weapons and multiple attackers, standing and on the ground. It is run by husband-and-wife instructors David "Dave" Woods — training since 1993, a certified Krav Maga instructor through ICSU, a Kung Fu Master since 2007 who trained at the Shaolin Temple, and a credentialed California teacher — and Gloriela Woods, who teaches the women's and kids' classes; both are bilingual in English and Spanish. Classes are capped at 12 students and booked online.
