Grindhouse Grappling is Pueblo County's only dedicated no-gi academy, teaching Brazilian and American Jiu-Jitsu alongside wrestling and no-gi judo to kids from age 4, teens and adults, with beginner fundamentals, an intermediate-advanced stream, open mats and competition preparation. Owner and head coach Denise Henry holds 2nd-degree black belts in both American and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, earned under Bay Area pioneers of the arts, and started training in 2005 in Santa Cruz alongside her six-year-old son; she also holds a master's degree in education and has worked as a maths teacher, teacher trainer and academic administrator, which shapes the gym's approach to class management — particularly for neurodivergent children, whose "challenging" behaviours the academy frames as strengths. Youth coach Autumn Lodge, a 17-year-old blue belt, has trained since she was 11. The gym runs in-house benefit tournaments and fundraising seminars for local youth organisations.
