About Thornton Martial Arts and Fitness

Thornton Martial Arts and Fitness in East Hartford, Connecticut teaches Muay Thai and Tang Soo Do rather than jiu-jitsu, with classes banded by age: Little Ninjas (4), Tiny Tigers (5-6), Little Warriors (7-11), Muay Thai Teens (12-16) and adult Muay Thai fundamentals and advanced from 17, plus beginner and advanced Tang Soo Do and a strength and conditioning class. It is run by two owners: Kru Ed Thornton heads the Muay Thai programme and has trained under Kru Pete Sityodtong Pinto since 2003 in the Sityodtong line brought to the USA by Kru Mark DellaGrotte, and Master Lynda Thornton heads Tang Soo Do as a fourth-degree master belt, a 2009 Action Karate Martial Arts Hall of Fame inductee teaching since 1995 and affiliated with the JeongShin Tang Soo Do Association. The East Hartford facility opened in 2014 after the school outgrew its Park Street location.
