About Gulf Breeze Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Checkmat)
Checkmat Gulf Breeze / Gulf Breeze Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on Beechwood Dr in Gulf Breeze, Florida was founded by Janilson "Bie", a 2nd-degree black belt and IBJJF Pan No-Gi and American National champion, as a collaboration with 5th-degree black belt Chico Mendes, a two-time IBJJF world champion with over 160 IBJJF black belt medals. Its programmes are Brazilian jiu-jitsu, adults and kids judo, Muay Thai/kickboxing, mixed martial arts, bootcamp, kids martial arts for ages 3-13 and a homeschool BJJ class for ages 6-13. The instructor team also includes 7th-degree judo black belt Donna Turk, who has been in judo since 1973 and has opened clubs across four states, ONE Championship fighter and three-time IBJJF world champion Abraao Amorim, and kids programme leader Evan Kincade. The school's motto is "no ego, no drama, just martial arts".
