About Pollaro's Martial Arts

Pollaro's Martial Arts in Plainfield, Indiana was opened in 2009 by Professor Nick Pollaro, a third-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Patrick Robinson and Octavio Couto and, the school says, the only BJJ black belt in Plainfield certified by both the IBJJF and the USJJF. It teaches gi and no-gi BJJ for adults at every level, kids' classes for ages 5-11 grouped by size and ability, and private lessons by appointment, with an open roll on Saturday mornings and no membership contracts. Pollaro spent twenty years as a police officer and has run defensive tactics at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy since 2009, which feeds a realistic self-defence component into the curriculum; the instructor bench is eleven deep and almost entirely black belts.
