About KRONK Boxing Gym, Detroit
KRONK is Detroit's historic boxing gym, founded by Emanuel Steward in the basement of the KRONK Recreation Center and now housed in the Brewster Wheeler Recreation Center at 670 Wilkins Street. The name is tied to 41 world champions, five Olympians and more than a hundred amateur champions, and the gym today runs 20+ weekly fitness and boxing classes from 6 AM to 3 PM alongside amateur and professional boxing training and sparring after 4 PM for ages 19 and up, plus a youth programme for ages 8-18. Head trainer Johnathon Banks is a Detroit native, a direct protégé of Steward and the former head trainer of Wladimir Klitschko and Gennady Golovkin. KRONK also operates as a boxing management and licensing business with a professional fighter roster.
