About Boombox Mixed Martial Arts

Boombox Mixed Martial Arts is a 4,000 sq ft martial arts collective in Ferndale, Michigan, hosting several independent programmes under one roof: Cortex Combat Submission Grappling, MKG Martial Arts, Carlson Gracie Jr. Jiu-Jitsu, the World Thai Boxing Association, American Top Team MMA, the Inosanto International Association and Kalis Ilustrisimo Repeticion Orihinal. Weekly classes cover Muay Thai (technique, padwork and fundamentals), Brazilian jiu-jitsu, catch wrestling, a women's jiu-jitsu group, Panantukan boxing, Filipino kali, trapping arts, Filipino sword duelling, yoga and group fitness, plus two youth programmes — Activate youth martial arts and the Tigers youth Muay Thai team. Founder Kurt Cornwell launched it in 2021 after his MKG Detroit gyms closed during COVID.
