About Westside Jiu Jitsu Academy
Westside Jiu Jitsu Academy at 35744 Ford Road in Westland, Michigan was founded in 2021 and is the first and only Caio Terra Association affiliate in the state, with a second location opened at 6825 Allen Road in Allen Park in 2026 that members can attend on the same membership. Head coach Ken Short is a first-degree black belt under Caio Terra with sixteen years training and eleven teaching. Classes run seven days a week morning, noon and night: adult gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu, gi and no-gi fundamentals with open rolls, a women-only programme five days a week taught by a female black belt, kids' classes for ages 3-5, 5-11 and 12-17, plus weekly judo, wrestling and kickboxing. The academy hosts seminars, law enforcement training and self-defence workshops, offers free trial classes and discounts for military and first responders.
