About St. Paul Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy
St. Paul Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy is led by head coach Brandon Bergeron, who began training in 2007, was awarded his BJJ black belt in January 2017 by Professor Greg Nelson, and retired from professional MMA at 14-3 having been named Minnesota's Professional MMA Fighter of the Year in 2010. It runs four programmes: BJJ Foundations for beginners, BJJ All Levels / Mastery for experienced grapplers, kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and a self-defence class built around surviving worst-case confrontations rather than scoring points. Bergeron brings applied experience from work as a hospital and plain-clothes security officer and a Minnesota police officer, and every coach on staff holds at least a blue belt.
