About Ground ZERO Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Self-Defense
Ground ZERO Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Self-Defense is a Kansas City school in the Waldo area and a member of Team Kronos BJJ, teaching BJJ as both a competitive sport and a self-defense system with an emphasis on fundamentals plus strength and conditioning. It is led by Prof. Derek Ruffin - an IBJJF No-Gi World Champion, Rener Gracie US National Champion and three-time Pan Am medallist, a former professional MMA fighter and former Kansas City PD SWAT officer with over 30 years of martial arts experience - who trains under Prof. Leonardo Pecanha, the founder of Team Kronos. Adult classes run weekday mornings and evenings plus Saturday, there is a separate kids class, and an "Evolution of Defense" course covering Muay Thai, BJJ, Wing Chun, Hapkido, less-lethal tools and firearms is offered as private sessions only.
