About Impact Jiu Jitsu Albuquerque
Impact Jiu Jitsu Albuquerque is the New Mexico academy of the Impact Jiu Jitsu group, which was founded in Beaverton, Oregon in 1998 by Michael Chapman (a Chris Haueter black belt, and originally trading as Beaverton Straight Blast Gym until 2006) and now counts 46 Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts across its schools. The Albuquerque gym runs adult jiu-jitsu split into beginner and advanced curricula, private and semi-private lessons, and a "Kid's Crew" programme for ages 3-13 broken into Jiu Jitsu Minis (3-4), Little Rollers (5-7) and Junior Grapplers (8-12), the last built on the academy's own adult blue-belt curriculum. It is owned and headed by Benjamin Henning and teaches with an explicitly technical, teaching-first philosophy rather than a hard-sparring one.
