About Smartjits
SmartJits is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy at 8520 Pan American Fwy NE in Albuquerque, founded by a group of martial artists that includes UFC fighter Michelle Waterson-Gomez, former professional boxer Josh Gomez, and 4th-degree black belt Rafael "Barata" de Freitas, who leads the instruction. De Freitas is the originator of the "Baratoplata" shoulder lock, a World Master IBJJF and No-Gi World champion, and has cornered UFC names including Holly Holm, Michelle Waterson and Ray Borg. The academy runs gi and no-gi classes split into fundamentals, basic and advanced levels, plus a kids programme.
