About Hurricane Jiu Jitsu
Hurricane Jiu Jitsu has been running in Cleveland since 2014 and hosts what it calls the city's largest women's jiu-jitsu programme, taught on a separate mat by competitor Darla Sedlacek. Its timetable splits gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu from no-gi submission grappling across mornings, middays and evenings, with a dedicated beginners' class called The Basics, kids gi and no-gi classes, an advanced no-gi class requiring instructor permission, and a Saturday open drills session for low-resistance practice. Head instructor John Lawrence is a third-degree black belt under Pedro and Daniel Vianna who has competed at the World and Pan American Championships.
