About Mushin Self Defense
Mushin Self Defense (mushinmma.com) is a martial arts gym in North Salt Lake, Utah, minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, teaching Brazilian jiu-jitsu, submission wrestling, Thai boxing, MMA, kids karate and youth MMA, plus a women's-only self-defense class. It has been run since 2000 by head instructors Brian Yamasaki and Brandon Kiser, who hold a BJJ black belt under William Bernales, Full Instructor rank in Erik Paulson's Combat Submission Wrestling and certified instructor status in Muay Thai under Ajarn Surachai 'Chai' Sirisute. Classes are split into beginner, intermediate and advanced tiers, with the advanced level requiring a BJJ blue belt or Thai shorts level, and its gi BJJ curriculum runs from white through black belt.
