Short Fuse Martial Arts is the Vancouver, Washington headquarters of the Chess Lab Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu association, in the Hazel Dell area. It runs Kids BJJ from age 3, Adults BJJ from 13 and Muay Thai from age 7, with a kids' competition team. Head instructor Ed Herman leads a staff that also includes Fabiano Scherner, the founder of Chess Lab Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, no-gi and BJJ coach Nick Martin, and Muay Thai, kickboxing and BJJ instructor Hamza Salim. The academy also runs a BJJ retreat.
