About Gracie Barra East Mesa Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Self-Defense
Gracie Barra East Mesa at 10720 E Southern Ave, Suite 110 in Mesa, Arizona was founded by Professor Lucas Norat, a 1st-degree black belt from Rio de Janeiro who trained at GB Jacarepagua and GB Rio Matriz, the original Gracie Barra headquarters, and moved to Arizona in 2017. The school runs kids' and adult programs, kids anti-bully classes, no-gi submission grappling, a women's jiu-jitsu program and a kids' competition team started in late 2022 that has taken two Pan Kids titles, a Nationals title and multiple IBJJF Open and state championships. Norat competes at a high level himself, with titles at Brazilian Nationals, South American Nationals and American Nationals and a third place at the Pan Americans.
