About Cleaning Up Today's Society

C.U.T.S. (Cleaning Up Today's Society) is a Jacksonville, Florida nonprofit that mentors at-risk youth, troubled teens and first-time offenders through martial arts rather than operating as a commercial academy. Its core Youth Preventative program is an 8-week PLAAY intervention taught alongside jiu-jitsu, after which participants are tested at a jiu-jitsu tournament and evaluated to continue, be referred to a licensed therapist, or join the year-round Saturday mentoring class. It was founded by executive director Ellis Curry, an IBJJF black belt and former incarcerated teen who now uses his own history to mentor young men, and it also runs a Kids Safety Jiu Jitsu program taken out to summer camps, community centres and youth groups.
