About The Base Jiu Jitsu Boise
The Base Jiu Jitsu Boise, in Meridian, Idaho, calls itself the oldest Brazilian jiu-jitsu school in the Treasure Valley: it opened in 2005 and owner BJ Buttars took it over in 2016. Buttars earned his black belt under Mitch Coats in 2016, trained extensively with Andrew Smith of Revolution BJJ, and was awarded his 2nd degree in 2022; the academy is a Checkmat USA affiliate. It teaches gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu for ages 14 and up with fundamentals five days a week and integrated judo and wrestling, an all-ages kids programme for 5-13, open mat access and private lessons.
