About Arroyo Grappling Academy

Arroyo Grappling Academy trains in the Sycamore Mall in Iowa City, one bus ride from the University of Iowa campus, and is an affiliate of Foundation Chicago under Zenith Jiu-jitsu. Its adult programme runs a BJJ fundamentals class and an all-levels class that deliberately borrows from judo, classic wrestling, sambo and aikido for takedowns, plus a Friday open mat and a monthly balance and flexibility workshop; kids' offerings are Level 1 jiu-jitsu and boxing for ages 5-10 and kickboxing/MMA for ages 10-16. Head coach Daniel Arroyo is a two-time Midwest BJJ champion with over 15 years of gi and no-gi competition who has cornered fighters at IBJJF Nationals.
