About Bayou Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense
Bayou Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense is the Baton Rouge half of a two-location Louisiana academy (9681 Airline Hwy here, plus a Central location on Wax Road) teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, judo, wrestling, MMA skills and self-defense. Owner Professor Kevin Bellard is a black belt under Ralph Gracie and a judo sensei, leading a roster of seven professors and senseis; adults train with a multiple-time IBJJF champion black belt and kids run 4-7 and 8-12 with a bully-prevention curriculum. Standalone self-defense classes run 60 minutes for people with no prior martial arts training, and the school won Best Martial Arts Academy in Baton Rouge Parents Magazine's 2023 Family Favorites readers' choice.
