About Capoeira Brasil Columbus
Capoeira Brasil Columbus is the central Ohio branch of Capoeira Brasil Ohio, a satellite of Grupo Capoeira Brasil, overseen by Mestre Tuzinho (Hartford, CT) and Mestre Boneco (Los Angeles, CA) and training under the curriculum and guidance of Professor Santo. It teaches youth (ages 6-10) and adult (11+) capoeira across three Columbus locations - Upper Arlington, Jager St and Briarwood Ave - with classes covering athleticism, acrobatics, rhythm and musicianship, and youth also learning Portuguese greetings, commands, songs and vocabulary. The group states explicitly that it is for everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, ability, appearance or religion, and welcomes visitors from other capoeira groups to drop in. Instructors are Monitor Elton "Brasil" and Joseph "Pantera" Lewis.
