About Chattanooga Jiu-Jitsu Academy

Chattanooga Jiu-Jitsu Academy was established in 2002 and teaches Gracie Jiu-Jitsu exclusively, as developed by Hélio Gracie, from a 5,000 square-foot facility in Hixson, Tennessee. Its stated priority is real-world self-defence over sport — 'in a real fight there are no referees, no points, no time limits and no weight divisions' — across programmes for men, women, children and seniors, plus private instruction, running six days a week. Owner and head instructor Mickey Swafford has trained Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for over 25 years and is a certified instructor under both Eddie Camden of the Tiger Academy in Atlanta and Professor Pedro Sauer.
