About Hosford Jiu-Jitsu Academy
Hosford Jiu-Jitsu Academy at 8630 Asheville Hwy in Knoxville is a family-owned, father-and-son school affiliated with both the Pedro Sauer Jiu-Jitsu association and Jeff Curran's association. Training centres on self-defense with sport jiu-jitsu mixed in, split into Kids Jiu-Jitsu (8-15), adult classes (16+) that separate a beginner-friendly Fundamentals track from Open Rank sessions, and a wrestling programme for ages 10 and up, with open mats through the week. John Hosford opened his first academy in 2001 and is a 4th degree black belt under Pedro Sauer; he and his son Gabe, a first degree black belt and one of the youngest in the area, started this academy together in 2021 in a garage and moved into the current building in 2023.
