About Velocity Combat Club
Velocity Combat Club trains in the basement of the Church and State building in downtown Salt Lake City, on 1,500 square feet of mat plus a 700-square-foot group fitness gym. It runs gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on IBJJF belt progression, wrestling, Muay Thai kickboxing, MMA team training, strength, conditioning and recovery coaching, a kids jiu-jitsu and self-defence programme, youth and teens classes, and a 10 AM homeschool programme for ages 6-17. Head instructor Samson Phommabout is a black belt with over 17 years across Muay Thai, MMA, wrestling, jiu-jitsu and boxing; the club also promotes its own Velocity Grappling Series competition events and charges visiting students no mat fee.
