About Red Schafer Mixed Martial Arts
Red Schafer Mixed Martial Arts is a Milwaukee gym opened in December 2010 by former UFC fighter Red Schafer, who won his UFC debut at UFC 62 and retired from MMA competition in 2016. Schafer began training Muay Thai in 1996 and Brazilian jiu-jitsu in 1997, and was awarded his BJJ black belt by Professor Pedro Sauer in April 2008 after eleven years of training; his long-time BJJ coach was Henry Matamoros. The gym's stated priorities are high-level technique, sports-science-based training and a friendly training environment, and its mat runs gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu, MMA, wrestling, kickboxing and youth classes.
