About Ascent Jiu Jitsu
Ascent Jiu Jitsu is a gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu studio in Coralville, Iowa, minutes northwest of Iowa City, opened in February 2026 by black belt Mike Warner. It runs adult classes at noon and in the evenings, a kids programme for ages 4-15 with multiple coaches splitting older and younger children, and a Saturday morning open mat. Both instructors come from law enforcement and SWAT backgrounds and build the classes around safety and non-intimidation, with small class sizes, springboard mats, instructor background checks, on-site cameras and Academy Safe accreditation.
