Bayou Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense in Central, Louisiana (14455 Wax Road) is one of two locations of a Baton Rouge-area academy teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, judo, wrestling, MMA skills and self-defense to adults and kids aged 4-12, including a bully-prevention curriculum. Owner Professor Kevin Bellard is a black belt under Ralph Gracie and a judo sensei, and the academy fields a roster of seven professors and senseis across the two sites. Standalone 60-minute self-defense classes are aimed at people with no prior martial arts training, and the school won Best Martial Arts Academy in Baton Rouge Parents Magazine's 2023 Family Favorites readers' choice.
