About Bulletproof Combat

Bulletproof Combat on East Fayette Street in Syracuse, New York teaches boxing, wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu in gi and no-gi, and MMA/kickboxing six days a week, with a Saturday jiu-jitsu open mat and a first class that is always free. It was founded by head coach Shane Manley, a BJJ black belt under Professor Eddie Avelar, Bellator MMA veteran, AFA featherweight champion and IBJJF No-Gi World and Pan American champion. Manley opened the gym on 15 May 2023, exactly one year after being shot while working security on University Hill — an injury he recovered from in time to win IBJJF Pan American gold four months later. He coaches with assistant wrestling coach Tristan Broddus, assistant boxing coach Srdan Lukic and strength and conditioning coach Lucas Brey, and the gym corners amateur MMA and boxing competitors.
