About Legion Martial Arts

Legion Academy of Martial Arts in Little River, South Carolina is a Devine Jiu Jitsu Association school that calls itself the longest-established jiu-jitsu school in the area and the first Gracie black belt school in the Myrtle Beach area. The timetable runs advanced gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu, Urban Combatives in the gi, a Sunday competition class, a Friday women's-only class, kids classes in three age bands (4-5, 6-8 and 9-12) and open mats five days a week, and the school also teaches wrestling, Muay Thai, kickboxing, self-defense and MMA. Owner and instructor Shane Briggs, a Gracie black belt, began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1991 while serving with the US Army in South Korea, took up the Relson Gracie style in 2000 and started teaching in 2002; he teaches classes and private lessons six days a week.
