BJJ in The Colony

The Colony sits on the Lewisville Lake shoreline in Denton County and hosts **Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu: The Colony**, the northernmost location in the Carlos Machado three-academy DFW network. Head instructor Michael Madeley is a 5th-degree black belt under Carlos Machado who started martial arts at age 7 and began BJJ in 2001; co-instructor Evan Thompson holds a 1st-degree black belt with nearly four decades of martial arts experience. The academy runs gi, no-gi, kids, wrestling, and an after-school care program (Child Care Subsidies accepted). A free first class is offered for adults and kids; after-school students receive a free trial week.
