About MMA Institute
MMA Institute on Jahnke Road in Richmond, Virginia runs high-performance programmes in mixed martial arts, Muay Thai kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, submission-wrestling grappling, fitness and conditioning, and dedicated fight-team training, with a Sunday open mat. Head instructor Rick McCoy oversees every class: a third-degree BJJ black belt, first-degree Judo black belt, fifth-degree Sombo black belt, sixth-degree American Open Style Karate black belt and full Kru in Muay Thai, he was the first professional MMA fighter in Virginia and has over 30 years in martial arts. The staff also includes BJJ black belt and professional MMA fighter Brian Nielson running grappling and the kids programme, a Judo black belt, a Muay Thai instructor with 15 years of training, a women's grappling instructor and a boxing coach.
