About Gracie Barra Tacoma
Gracie Barra Tacoma is one of three Gracie Barra academies in western Washington (with Renton and Marysville) owned by Greg Jones, who has run schools in the area since 2001. The Tacoma school opened in 2017 under head instructor Professor Josh Calvo, a 2nd-degree black belt under Rodrigo Lopes and an active professional MMA fighter, and runs the standard Gracie Barra curriculum — GB1 fundamentals, GB2 advanced, GB3 black belt (including no-gi), GBK kids and a women's jiu-jitsu and fitness programme — alongside BANG Muay Thai, a Fit + Fierce conditioning class and nutrition coaching. The coaching staff spans blue to black belt, including Professors Abel Correa, Sean Flaherty and Waldron 'Tunz' Ngotel.
