About Defiance Jiu Jitsu
Defiance Jiu Jitsu at 5401 6th Avenue in Tacoma, Washington is run by owner and coach Jesse Bardizian, a 2nd-degree black belt who met Brazilian jiu-jitsu in basic training at Fort Benning in 2002 and began training formally in 2007 under Professor James "300" Foster. Its classes are gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu, no-gi, a fundamentals class, competition training (required for anyone competing under the Foster Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu / One Jiu-Jitsu team), a Striking 101 boxing and kickboxing class, kids jiu-jitsu and self-defence, open mat and private lessons for one to four students. The school's stated philosophy is that jiu-jitsu is "a spectrum of colors" that should adapt to each student's body type and learning style rather than the reverse.
